Here is a link to an article by Mike Wilson on ModelingMadness about using my PropBlurs in an unusual way: http://www.modelingmadness.com/others/features/propblur/propblur.htm
Working with PropBlurs
3 Original PropBlurs during installation on plastic hub that came with
model kit.
Installation Notes for The Original PropBlurs
Note: The Original PropBlurs* are different from the On Hub PropBlurs**.
The following notes are specifically for The Original PropBlurs. Notes for On Hub PropBlurs coming soon.
1st thing to do is to measure the kit propeller blade. The 1/48th scale PropBlur is 1-1/4 inches in length.
Is the PropBlur too long, short or just right? If its just right or too short, decide if you're going to drill a 1/32" (0.03125") hole in the kit propeller hub, and use the spur at the end of the PropBlur part to insert into hole in hub, OR use a razor saw and cut a slot into the kit propeller hub. You may wish to remove the spur from the PropBlur if you're going to cut a slot. If the PropBlur part is too short you'll need to include some of the kit propeller to make up the different in lengths. If the PropBlur part is too long, you'll have to cut it down and use the razor saw method to attach it to the kit propeller hub.
.
There is no front or back to the PropBlur. You should determine which direction the propeller of the real aircraft turns and attachthe PropBlur part to take advantage of the trailing edge effect. The rake of the kit propeller should give you an idea which way the propeller is supposed to turn.
.
Use Superglue to attach PropBlur as with any photoetched part. Care should be taken when gluing the PropBlur blades onto the kit propeller hub. Alignment is CRITICAL. If the parts aren't at the proper angle, it's readily apparent and will not look right. We sell alignment guides, or you can make a simple one with cardstock, a pencil and a straightedge. For 3 Blade props, mark 120 degrees. Two Blade props, mark 180 degrees. Four Blade, 90 degrees.
.
It is best to fit the PropBlur parts onto the kit propeller hub then paint them. If you lay the blades down flat the paint just fills in the spaces between the fingers. Light coats and flat paints seem to work best. Don't lay it on too thick or you'll end up with what my wife calls the "too much mascara look." After the blades are dry, if appropriate to the aircraft, mask off the tips and add the proper color following the arc of the blades edge. Try darkening the tip color towards the end of the fingers to enhance the blurred effect.
.
The possibilities are open to your imagination and skill. Whether a P-38 on the runway, a B-17 with one engine feathered, a P-51 screaming down for the attack, or a Cessna 150 just lazing along, PropBlur adds dynamics to any propeller driven aircraft model.
.
PropBlur is a new concept, and we are interested in your reaction and suggestions. PropBlur - Made in USA.

The Original PropBlurs* come in three Scales; 1/32nd, 1/48th & 1/72nd scales; On-Hub PropBlurs** come in three Scales; 1/48th, 1/72nd & 1/144th scales
.
Note: The Original PropBlurs* are different from the On Hub PropBlurs**.
- Original PropBlurs are made so you replace one propeller BLADE with one Original PropBlur.
- On Hub PropBlurs are used to replace an entire Propeller with one On Hub PropBlur unit.
